03. THESIS / INTERNSHIP
THESIS
A thesis project has to be done by each student at second semester Year 5-Semester 2 where Student-initiated design develops under a thesis supervisor. In thesis, the students prepare a thesis proposal through 1) identifying a needs-based topic and research question; 2) co-constructing a program engaging targeted stakeholders/user-groups/client; and 3) designing the ̳design research methodology based on case studies and specific methods of empirical data- gathering and measurable intentions. After that students create design/design-support solutions/options as potential answer to the research question, which is subject to appraisal both by the stakeholders/user-groups/client and the members of 'Panel of Appraisers'.
INTERNSHIP : Practical Training
As a requirement of the degree of Bachelor of Architecture, a student is required to complete practical training [300 hrs.] under a professional architect (member of IAB) in Bangladesh. The supervising architect must be a registered member architect of the professional institute of the country of practice, other than exceptional cases approved by department. Students will have to maintain a daily log of their professional activities signed by the supervising architect. Grading of the course will be based on the supervising architect's confidential report, compilation of daily logs and an interview by a board consisting of teachers of the department.
